This brief computer-generated video highlights the ongoing construction progress of Zuishin'an, initiated through the generous donation of a 4.5-mat room by the family of our dedicated member, Lynn Sōrin Moser. Situated within the East Building on the Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Washington campus, the 570-square-foot space encompasses a 4.5-tatami mat tearoom, an 8-tatami mat tearoom, a foyer, a galley kitchen, and an attic.
Having completed the rough carpentry phase, the next steps involve the skilled finish woodworker finalizing the tearoom alcoves and installing essential elements such as shoji doors and rails, hall window coverings, host entrance doors, a ceiling in the large tearoom, a crawling-in door, and light fixtures, among other features. To achieve this, we aim to raise an additional $25,000, leveraging a matching grant to successfully conclude this crucial phase. Zuishin'an's official opening is planned to coincide with the completion of the finish woodworking.
Your support and presence are highly valued as we embark on this transformative journey.
We sincerely appreciate the generous support of King County 4Culture in ‘Building for Equity’ funding for the tearoom construction, as well as ‘Arts Sustained’ support for programs throughout the year.
